The study investigated the relationship between social networking site addiction and
academic procrastination among college students and the gender difference in social
media addiction and academic procrastination. The contemporary digital age, observes
an excess in social media consumption which dominates daily functioning. The preference
for online attendance to responsibilities indicates the prioritization behaviour of people
and the urge for online attendance. Population of all sections, even students, both at the
undergraduate and postgraduate levels, can be lured by social media. As a result, they
may procrastinate on their academic and personal goals. The present study collected
data from 232 college students through a Google form containing Socio-Demographic
Details, Social Networking Addiction Scale and Academic Procrastination Scale using
convenient sampling technique. The findings showed that the social networking sites
addiction and academic procrastination were positively correlated and the males have
high social networking sites addiction and academic procrastination than females. It was
also found that the undergraduate students have high social networking sites addiction
and academic procrastination than postgraduate students.
