High school is a time when a student reaches the age of adolescence. Adolescence is
as a time of transition, when a person is neither a child nor an adult. The individual will
experience role uncertainty and identity struggles. The effects of the events that occur
at this time can last a lifetime, as can the habits formed. Loneliness is an uncomfortable
emotional state that results from insufficient social connections in a number of significant
ways. Lack of friendship, a lack of social support, or frustration and discontent with an
existing relationship can all lead to loneliness. A youngster might be gaming addicted
if they believe they can’t stop playing a game, worry about it when they’re not playing,
or compromise other activities to play a game. The study includes 89 high school girls
and boys of the age group 13-15 years. Simple random sampling technique was used
for sampling. Tools used were UCLA Loneliness scale developed by Russell, D, Peplau,
L. A & Ferguson, M. L. (1978) and Game Addiction Scale by Lemmens et al., (2011).
Product Moment correlation was used to analyze the association variables and ‘t’ test
was used to analyze gender differences. Results shows positive correlation between
loneliness and game addiction with no gender difference
