The present study focussed on impact of art therapy in emotion regulation, cognitive
flexibility and social competence among adolescents. Initially 223 participants were
assessed, out of which fifty-one (29 boys & 22 girls) were screened in this before-after,
without control group study. The tools administered were Emotion Regulation
Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (ERQ-CA); Cognitive Flexibility Inventory
(CFI) and Adolescent Multidimensional Social Competence Questionnaire (AMSC-Q).
The study used simple random sampling and the results were analysed using SPSS
23. The results concluded that art therapy significantly enhances emotion regulation
among adolescents, helping them better manage and express their emotions.
Participants showed improved ability to cope with emotional challenges, demonstrating
greater emotional awareness and control. Additionally, art therapy fostered cognitive
flexibility, as adolescents exhibited an increased ability to adapt their thinking and
approach problems from multiple perspectives.
