This study investigates the psychological benefits of a digital detox intervention in
reducing Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and loneliness while improving overall mental
health outcomes among college students. The objectives included assessing
improvements in well-being, emotional regulation, sleep quality, mindfulness, academic
performance, and social media engagement following the intervention. It also explored
the subjective experiences and long-term effects of the digital detox. The intervention
yielded significant positive changes across multiple domains. Participants reported
enhanced overall well-being (Cohen’s d = 0.94), improved emotional regulation (d =
1.10), better sleep quality (d = 1.23), increased mindfulness (d = 1.18), and reduced
social media engagement (d = 1.35). Academic performance also showed a moderate
improvement (d = 0.50). Paired-samples t-tests and repeated measures ANOVA
confirmed these changes were statistically significant (p < 0.05).Follow-up data collected
one month post-intervention revealed that most benefits were sustained, though slight
regressions were noted in some areas, such as social media engagement and
mindfulness. Qualitative feedback highlighted reduced stress and loneliness, improved
focus, and increased self-awareness among participants, though some faced challenges
in adapting to a digital-free routine. These findings suggest that digital detox interventions
can effectively enhance psychological well-being, reduce FoMO and loneliness, and
foster healthier engagement with digital technology. The study underscores the potential
of digital detox as a tool for promoting mental health, with implications for academic
and personal domains
