Religiosity is the degree of commitment to a religion. The feeling of closeness and
belonging to others is known as social connectedness. Sensation seeking is the
tendency to search for and engage in thrilling activities. Understanding these variables
is essential for comprehending the psychosocial development of young adults. This
study examined religiosity’s influence on social connectedness and sensation seeking
in young adults. Using an ex post facto design and purposive sampling, 106 adults
aged 18–40 years participated. The Centrality of Religiosity Scale (CRS), Social
Connectedness Scale (SCS), and Sensation Seeking Scale (SSS) were used to measure
variables. Data were analysed using Pearson’s correlations, linear regression, and ttests.
Results showed no significant relationship between the variables. Religiosity
was not a significant predictor of social connectedness or sensation seeking. A significant
gender difference was found in sensation seeking. These findings have implications in
counselling and psychological interventions for youth facing social and risk-taking
challenges.
