The study sets out to investigate the relation between Social Media Addiction and
Mental Health among Higher Secondary Students in Guwahati City. The study focuses
on Correlational Research Design and the sample taken to be 40 higher secondary
students (20 boys and 20 girls) through a convenience sampling. The tools used for the
study are the Mental Health Scale and the Social Media Addiction Scale respectively.
The results showed that boys had a slightly lower average Mental Health in compared
to girls. Whereas boys was reported to have a lower average score on Social Media
Addiction than girls indicating some minor gender differences. Additionally, we found a
moderate negative correlation between Social Media Addiction and Mental Health ,
suggesting that higher levels of Social Media Addiction are linked to lower mental
health among higher secondary students.These results highlight the importance of
promoting a balanced use of Social Media in order to support and improve adolescents
