This bibliometric analysis examines alcohol addiction and related disorders in India
from 1997 to 2024, exploring the psychological, physical, and socioeconomic impacts,
as well as interventions. Analyzing 642 documents from the Scopus database using
Microsoft Excel, VOSviewer, and RStudio, the study identifies publication trends,
institutional contributions, and emerging themes. Study found that emerging themes
include liver disease, cancer risk, genetic factors, socio-health impacts, and peerinfluenced
substance use. The analysis highlights underexplored areas such as intensive
care, specific medications, and social factors, indicating a need for enhanced psychiatric
treatments and research methodologies. Findings reveal that alcohol addiction is a
major public health issue, disproportionately affecting disadvantaged groups and
contributing to psychiatric disorders (e.g., depression, anxiety), as well as health
complications like traumatic brain injuries and tuberculosis. Alcohol addiction also
exacerbates social issues like intimate partner violence and self-harm. Interventions
suggested include culturally tailored public health campaigns, improved healthcare
access, standardized screening tools, and programs like Counselling for Alcohol
Problems (CAP). Future research should focus on the intersection of psychological
and socioeconomic factors to develop more integrated intervention strategies
