Adolescence is crucial since different aspects of their behavior, cognition, and
psychosocial functioning are frequently marked by rapid changes. Given the magnitude
of issues adolescents confront, the current study concentrated on developing an
intervention for students in grade VIII. Through need analysis, it was determined that
instilling optimism, mindfulness, gratitude, and empathy, helping them learn different
memory and learning strategies, improving their attention span, and helping them develop
goal-setting and time management skills are all necessary for their overall development
and functioning. The population for the study was eighth-grade students (N=100) between
12-13 years of age, and the intervention was spread across 6 sessions. Mindfulness,
optimism, empathy, gratitude, and commitment to goals were measured using
standardized tools before and after the intervention. A paired sample t-test was
conducted, and the results showed a significant increase in optimism and goal-setting,
proving the effectiveness of the intervention. These findings suggest potential benefits
for implementing similar interventions in Academic Performance Enhancement Programs
and Extracurricular Activities/Leadership Programs
