The current study is a phenomenology aimed at gaining a deeper understanding of the
experiences of university students in the context of the imposter phenomenon. The
study consisted of 2 phases: the screening phase used the Clance Imposter
Phenomenon Scale by Dr. Clance to identify interviewees, and the second was the
main interviewing phase. 6 interviews were conducted to understand the participants’
academic and professional experiences in the context of the IP. The analysis followed
interpretative phenomenological analysis and revealed themes that characterised the
experience of the IP, themes that reflected the internal and external factors that
contributed to IP, and coping mechanisms. It was also observed that IP’s pervasiveness
existed beyond academic and professional settings
