Adolescence represents a period of increased vulnerability due to emotional and
academic pressures that may hinder students’ engagement and mental health. This
study investigated the impact of a six-week school-based mindfulness program on
classroom involvement and emotional resilience among Indian teenagers. A quasi
experimental design with pre- and post-test measures was used, involving 120 students
from two secondary schools in Jaipur, with equal assignment to intervention and control
groups. The mindfulness sessions included breathing exercises, body awareness, and
emotional regulation activities adapted for the school setting. Standardized instruments
measured outcomes. Results indicated greater improvement in both outcomes among
the mindfulness group, with girls showing slightly higher resilience gains. These findings
highlight the utility of integrating mindfulness into educational settings to support
adolescents’ psychological and academic development.
