The connection between EI and IQ is always an interesting topic to investigate. This
study investigated the association between emotional intelligence (EI) and cognitive
intelligence, known as IQ, with the focus on gender differences. We used standardized
assessments and analysed the correlation between EI components (emotional
perception, managing, and utilizing emotions) and IQ indices (verbal comprehension,
perceptual reasoning, processing speed, and working memory) in a sample of 79
participants. Key findings revealed positive associations of some subareas of emotional
intelligence with multiple domains of IQ. Additionally, coding (WAIS subtest) showed a
significant difference between males and females. This study also found the ability of
IQ to predict Emotional Intelligence (EI). The results of this study challenge preconceived
assumptions about the influence of demographic information on EI-IQ relationships by
highlighting the interrelationship between emotional and cognitive processing.
