In the past years, the preference of career was limited to only a few job areas due to which students had limited options to involve themselves into their career. But recently, due to technological development along with the influence of other factors such as awareness, proper guidance and increasing opportunities, these areas have expanded and now there are multiple career choices that students can explore. Teaching was regarded among the most preferred career choices among graduates, however in a study it was found that students in India, now, do not emphasize teaching as a possible career option. Likewise, around other countries, teaching is regarded as a poor career option as the payment is relatively less. Thus, the purpose of this study is to determine the main career preference area among generation Z of Kailali. Also, the study aims to distinguish the career preference among the male and female participants as well as to identify if there is difference in the career preference of secondary level students and higher secondary level students. With the convenience sampling, a survey was conducted to collect data from students where the study found that the main career preference area among generation Z was Mass Media and Journalism (MMj) (m=0.29) and Education (E) (m= 0.25) was the second most preferred area. Similarly, the majority of males (m= 0.49) and females (m= 0.45) preferred Mass Media and Journalism (MMj) and Education (E) respectively. Regarding educational level, the career preference was significantly different as m=0.47 of total students in secondary level preferred Science and Technology (SCT) whereas m= 0.45 of higher secondary level students preferred Mass Media and Journalism (MMj) as their main career preference.
