The rapid integration of digital media into family life has transformed the lives of people
and their daily routine from the old ways, including parenting, influencing the quality of
parent and child relationships in both beneficial and detrimental ways. While digital
technologies can promote parent-child connection through shared media engagement,
communication, and learning experiences, excessive or inappropriate media use may
contribute to disconnection by reducing parental responsiveness, increasing
interruptions, and limiting meaningful face-to-face interactions. The review examines
how digital media serves as both a facilitator of connection and a source of disconnection,
emphasizing the importance of responsive and sensitive parenting in the digital era. It
further explores the implications of these relational changes for parent-child bonding
and connection. Overall, this review underscores the need to understand digital media
use within the context of family relationships and child development
