This study aimed to examine the work motivation of higher secondary teachers,
emphasizing variations based on specific background variables, including gender (male
and female), marital status (married and single), subject specialization (arts and
sciences), school location (rural and urban), and school type (government, government
aided, and self-financed). The study was conducted among higher secondary school
educators in Karur District, Tamil Nadu. The principal findings revealed that gender,
marital status, and school location substantially impacted teachers’ job motivation.
Nonetheless, no substantial variations were detected for topic specialty or kind of
school. This study’s conclusions offer significant insights for educators and
administrators, aiding them in examining measures to improve teacher motivation.
Moreover, these findings underscore the need of cultivating job motivation among
educators across all educational tiers to enhance overall teaching efficacy.
