This study is to identify the outcomes, limitations, and implications of experimental
research published in journals that are indexed in NCBI PubMed, SCOPUS, or the
UGC Care list. The study has undertaken a descriptive research design following a
comprehensive literature overview through a scoping review of visual perception in reading.
A total of 16 studies were identified as relevant and considered for a full-text analysis.
The analysis of the studies has provided significant themes and necessary directions
to go ahead within experimental psycholinguistics. The findings collectively suggest
that detecting transposition errors in reading is intricate and influenced by various
factors, including word length and presentation paradigm. The transposed-word effect
is present in both typical sentence presentation and serial word presentation paradigms,
with a more significant impact under parallel word presentation compared to serial
presentation. Furthermore, the need to consider individual differences and environmental
conditions in understanding the impact of the display medium, light source, and ambient
illuminance on visual performance highlights the complexities inherent in these cognitive
processes and provides a roadmap for future research to unravel the intricacies of
transposition error, colour aesthetics, and visual recognition
