In India, the professional challenges before a school psychologist are formidable,
largely on account of the complexity of socio-cultural milieu. The scenario calls for
distinct managerial skills for school psychology in India (Ramalingam, 2011). This is
an avid appeal to the research community in psychology and education to focus on
school psychology. We acknowledge the warm and inspiring role of International School
Psychology Association (ISPA) in planting a new sapling Indian School Psychology
Association (InSPA) in 2009 in India. On the one hand, a school psychologist has to
offer mental health care suiting to pupil’s cultural context, and on the other hand, there
is a challenge of global encounter (Pirta, 2012)
Keywords: School phsycology, cultural context, global encounter.
