This study explores risk-taking behaviour under conditions of emotional intelligence
and cognitive flexibility. While emotions influence decision-making, they do not function
in a vacuum; cognitive interventions are necessary for optimal outcomes. However,
from the standpoint of behavioural studies, this interaction remains unclear. Therefore,
this study examined a healthy sample (n=121) assessing emotional intelligence with
MSREIS-R, risk-taking with GDT and cognitive flexibility with WCST. The findings
suggested that cognitive flexibility and a sub-scale of emotional intelligence impact
risk-taking behaviour, while no moderating effect was observed between them. However,
the sub-scales of emotional intelligence predicted cognitive flexibility indicating a
directional relationship. This suggests that while cognitive flexibility and emotional
intelligence interact, their role may be more complex than direct moderation in risk
taking and therefore highlights the need for further exploration of their interplay
