Research has demonstrated that adolescents with externalizing disorders often exhibit
deficiencies in executive functioning and prosocial behaviour. Long-term studies have
indicated a notable positive influence of physical activity on both executive functioning
and prosocial behaviour The current study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of an
integrated approach that combines sports and cognitive behavioural techniques as an
intervention for three adolescents with externalizing disorders. The findings reveal that
during the intervention, engagement in structured sports activity actively contributed to
enhancing the capacity to handle frustration and communicate effectively with others.
Participation in sports activity within a group setting aids in the development of empathy
and perspective-taking skills, ultimately leading to improvements in prosocial behaviour
and executive functioning
