This study was conducted on secondary school teachers with teacher-effectiveness
and well-being based on gender and type of school. The sample of 600 secondary
school teachers was selected by using multi-stage random sampling. The results show
that female teachers have higher teacher effectiveness than male teachers but male
and female teachers do not differ in their well-being. Government school teachers
possess a higher level of teacher effectiveness and well-being as compared to private
school teachers. Male teachers of government and female teachers of private schools
show a higher score on teacher effectiveness than male teachers of private schools.
Male teachers of government schools show a higher score on well-being as compared
to female teachers of government schools and male teachers of private schools. However,
female teachers of private schools show a higher score on well-being as compared to
male teachers of private schools. The results of the present investigation support the
importance of well-being in the determination of teacher effectiveness and are also
more useful for the improvement of teacher effectiveness and well-being in secondary
school teachers. The study results can be used in developing educational policies.
The study of these variables assumes special significance because of their implications
on the part of secondary school teachers
