Double depression is a psychiatric condition where the individual suffers from constant
feelings of low mood of less intensity, i.e., dysthymia, and there is a period when major
depressive symptoms also occur simultaneously. This type of condition is seen mainly
in adult cases, but the adolescent population also gets affected due to various stressors
present in their micro as well as macro environment. Both pharmacological and
psychotherapeutic interventions are regarded as gold standard treatment in dealing
with such cases. However, the contribution of psychological assessments, both
objective and projective personality tests, has hardly been seen in academic literature,
apart from the baseline assessments using various rating scales. Thus, this case
study highlights the role of psychometric assessments in reaching a proper diagnosis
and developing an adequate psychotherapeutic management plan to contribute to the
patient’s positive psychological well-being and healthy quality of life.
