Effect of Internet Addiction on Sleep Quality and Social Anxiety among University Students

The study aims to investigate the effect of internet addiction on sleep quality and social anxiety among university students. The data was collected from 155 students using the Internet Addiction Test (IAT), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and Lebowitz social anxiety scale. Data was collected from university students from Malappuram and Kozhikode in Kerala, aged 21 to 30 years, who exhibited signs of internet addiction. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software, with linear regression employed to determine the predictive power of internet addiction on sleep quality and social anxiety. The prediction for internet addiction comes out to be significant for sleep quality and social anxiety. Internet addiction is a significant predictor for social anxiety and sleep quality among university students.
