The present study investigated the relationships between self-regulated learning,
psychological capital along with academic achievement among secondary school
students. The study focused on the mediating role of psychological capital. A purposive
sampling method was employed to select a sample of 144 school students, aged 16-
20 years, from the Jaunpur district. Measures used were Motivated Strategies for Learning
Questionnaire (MSLQ) by Pintrich ; The Trait Hope Scale by Snyder ; New General
Self Efficacy Scale by Chen and Gully ; Child and Youth Resilience Measure Revised
by International Resilience Project ; Revised Life Orientation Test by Scheier and Carver
and Biographical data sheet to collect data from the studied sample. In order to measure
academic achievement, students’ grade score at the end of semester exam was
recorded. Results revealed positive correlations between self-regulated learning and
psychological capital, as well as between psychological capital and academic
achievement. Importantly, psychological capital fully mediated the effect of self-regulated
learning on academic success. This study expands the existing literature by specifically
examining simple mediation of psychological capital in the association between selfregulated learning and academic achievement.
