The present research aims to investigate the interrelationship among family environment,
peer pressure, and academic achievement of adolescents and to explore the effect of
family environment and peer pressure on academic achievement. The sample for the
present study includes 150 school-going students aged 12-18 years. Appropriate selfreport measures were used to gather data from the sample. The obtained data was
analyzed using descriptive statistics, bivariate correlation, and regression analysis in
SPSS (26). A negative correlation of family cohesion (r=-.224, p<.001) and family
expressiveness (r=-.211, p<.001) whereas, a positive correlation of family conflict (r=.341,
p<.001) was found with peer pressure. Further, a positive correlation of family cohesion
(r=.471, p<.001) and family expressiveness (r=.534, p<.001) whereas, a negative
correlation of family conflict (-.423, p<.001) was found with academic achievement.
The correlation between peer pressure and academic achievement is also negative
(r=.440, p<.001). Overall family environment and peer pressure together explain about
51.3% variance in academic achievement (â=-2.06, F=40.215, and p<0.001). Educational
institutions and policymakers should use these findings to create comprehensive support
networks that include both family and peer interventions which may further be useful in
boosting academic success
