Out of the total Indian population, 2.26 crore individuals (about 2.1%) aged 10-75 years
uses opioids. Unfortunately, Manipur is one of the North Eastern States of India with
the highest prevalence of opioid use in the general population (Executive Summary,
2019). The ill consequences and impacts of opioid dependence on psychosocial,
financial, physical, and occupational functioning are huge. So, considering the problems
and effects of opioid use, the study was undertaken. This study explored the relationship
among Anxiety, Depression, Stress and Coping style of opioid dependents. Through
purposive sampling, selected a sample of 77 males aged 18-45 fulfilling the criteria
from different rehabilitation centres located in Manipur. The selected participants were
administered the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale by Lovibond, & Lovibond, and the
Coping Inventory for Stressful Situations by Endler & Parker. The data was analyzed
using Descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation. The study finds that Task-Oriented
Coping Style negatively correlated to Stress (p=0.01) while Anxiety and Distraction
coping styles as well as Emotion. Enhancing the Task-Oriented Coping Style and
minimizing Emotion Oriented Coping style as well as Distraction might reduce Stress,
and Anxiety respectively in opioid dependents
