This study investigates the Pro-environmental behavior (PEB) predictors, namely,
biospheric values, personal norms, and perceived behavioral control among Indian
adolescents, which is crucial for sustainable development. Surveying 642 school students
(ages 13-15), self-reported questionnaires assessed biospheric values, personal norms,
perceived behavioral control, and PEB. Multiple regression analysis revealed significant
predictions for PEB (F (3, 638) = 879.94, p < .0005, R² = .805), with personal norms
having a more substantial impact. The findings align with existing research, highlighting
the influence of parents and peers on adolescents’ personal norms. Integrating
environmental education into school curricula emerges as a strategic approach, offering
opportunities for adolescents to participate in environmental initiatives and positively
influence each other. This study emphasizes the importance of fostering personal norms
to enhance pro-environmental engagement among Indian adolescents
