The rate of diabetes as a cause of disease affliction has increased over time.
Psychological well-being & mental health could be considered as an important factor
in improving this disease management and a decrease in mortality and morbidity of
the disease. Despite, an increase of type 2 diabetes in India, there are a few types of
research about the psychological aspects of the treatment. The aim of this study was
identifying of psychosocial factors in the determination of psychological well-being &
mental health among type 2 diabetic patients. The study was conducted on 40 males and
females having type 2 diabetes from the outpatient population. The GHQ questionnaire
survey has assessed the presence of psychological well-being and mental health. For
analysis, we used descriptive statistics and another applicable statistic method on SPSS.
The present study revealed that there are psychosocial factors that contribute to the
psychological well-being & mental health of type 2 diabetic patients. These patients
were found to compromise their psychological well-being & mental health and needed
more attention and psychological intervention and education about it for their every-day
management with diabetes.
